Title: Am i doing this correctly? Question about settins on Emudrivers
Post by: abispac on June 21, 2025, 01:00:29 pm
So I put together a K7000 chassis with a SpongeBob consumer TV tube — it looks like a brand-new monitor. At first, I set it up as an NTSC TV because most games looked good, but some of them were overscanned. Then I configured it as a K7000, made some adjustments, and most games now look well-centered and sharp.

The problem is with Williams games — they all have black bars. If I try a different resolution, they look blurry. Kung-Fu Master and Mortal Kombat also scroll a lot, and again, changing the resolution doesn’t help.

Is there a way to fix William games so they look normal and fill the screen all the way?
Thanks for any help!
Windows 11 with amd r5 430 and emudrivers, latest groovymame.
Edit: found a sweet spot so mk and kungfu master won’t scroll

Those are games that uses 256 lines at mostly 55 Hz so it's neither PAL neither NTSC standard but in between. Setting groovymame to NTSC only will cripple those games.

On my TVs those games are using customs 256 modes that somehow fits into PAL preset on my TVs so I have large black bar at the bottom but at least I see whole play area. By default (arcade_15 mode) Irem, Midway games are cut of on the bottom and that's excepted.
