Title: JVL Retro File System Corrupted
Post by: STL_Tom on April 13, 2025, 11:32:30 pm
Not sure what I need to do to fix this problem.

I have a JVL Retro iTouch 11. It has been working great for years.  Unfortunately, it now gives a "File System Corrupted/Factory reset required" screen at each power on.  Pressing the Setup button completes the Reset and allows me to enter the game, afterwards.

The IO board has no battery.  I replaced the CR2032 on the motherboard with a new one.  I did "Load Optimized Defaults" & "Save" in the bios.  It still wants to pop up with the file corrupted error screen.

I have the IT11 v1.0.D3 CD.  I have reinstalled from USB.  Still wants to go through the Factory Reset after power up.

Any idea or help is very much appreciated.

IOboard battery does not look like a cr2032, it looks like a shorter AA battery but is 3v lithium that had two solder pins welded on each end.

I had to update my email.  Took awhile to figure out the activation was getting blocked.

My IO  board does not have a battery.

Here is a photo…

UPDATE: I got it sorted.  Ultimately, some clever person soldered a CR2032 holder on the backside of the I/O Board.  It stops complaining about Corruption if you feed it a new button cell!

Nice. I soldered a cr2032 batter holder in one once but it didnt work for some reason. Looks like they added some resisters, maybe thats why mine didnt work. I didn't look into it any further and just ordered the correct battery from amazon.

Yeah.  It’s slick how the battery tucks up behind.  I wish I would have documented the mod better.  Maybe next time.

I was so thankful to have it working.  My grandson asked if he could have one someday.  LOL
