Title: Best MAME versions to consider for ancient Laptop (ThinkPad T60)
Post by: HOW on April 11, 2025, 08:12:39 am
Hi All

Wondered on options for the best MAME versions to consider for an ancient Laptop - specs below:

Lenovo Thinkpad T60 with Intel Core Duo T2400 CPU at 1.83GHz and 3.00 GB of RAM
OS is Windows XP

Looking to play older stuff - Robotron, etc but understood some later versions were worse for these older games - Unsure if true but doubt this potato could run anything new LOL

Thanks 👍

Do you already have the mame roms? If not I would consider one of the many Linux variants. My personal favorite is batocera. Super easy to setup and requires minimum Linux knowledge (you’ll have to know or know how to look up creating and installing an image to a usb drive. You can either run it from a thumb drive or once up and running it’s trivial to install to your laptops hard drive, assuming you don’t care about the current OS installed on it.
