I am starting to notice on some of the MAME artwork sites, in particular the Arcade Art Library, a lot of the files are saved in the .ai format.
Is there any other programs that are freely available to look at these pics? If not, does anyone know of a reasonable spot to find a copy? I found one on ebay for $70, just wasn't sure if that was a good deal or not, it was version 11 I believe.
Sorry for the dumb questions, but I love the amazing art some of you guys are doing and wouldn't mind trying it myself...

We can always convert it. You could probably try Macromedia Freehand... it should be able to use the files. Nobody here mentions that tool. You can download it & use it for 30 days (like Illustrator). Either way, both demos are fully functional.

Can you get round the 30 day limit by re-installing the program every once in a while?

Well that would be unethical.

Trust me $70 for illistrator is a good price, especially a more recent edition. Or go the other way a get a cheap copy for freehand.
