I have a dedicated captain america and the avengers 4-player cabinet for sale. It's complete minus the monitor (25") and pcb. Excellent candidate for MAME. E-mail for more pictures. Located in Silver Spring, MD across the DC line. Looking for $200 obo. Cash and carry preferred.
Thx,
J.

$200 for an empty cabinet? Um...
-
I was nearly in my truck headed for DC for a sweet old 4 player game... then I realized it was empty. :(
-
I'm in Silver Spring Md., 200$ huh? That's a little pricey for an empty cab. I'd love to pick it up, could we negotiate on the price? I've got a few things we could trade if you're interested.
Does the cab come with the control panel?

$200 is a little steep, but that cab has very cool graphics and it looks to be in pretty good shape in the pictures.

Allow me to elaborate on my original post.
When I say it is complete *minus* the monitor and PCB, I mean it has the following:
Cabinet that has no water damage, in clean, original condition with 100% intact side art on both sides (ebay $50-$100)
Marquee (ebay $10)
Marquee light fixture (ebay $5)
Cardboard Bezel/plexiglass/monitor shroud (ebay $10-$15)
Populated control panel with 4 8-way joysticks and 8 buttons (ebay $40-$50)
Working switching power supply (ebay $10)
Complete, unhacked JAMMA harness, labeled and including player 3 and 4 connections (ebay $10-$20)
Isolation transformer (ebay $10)
4 slot coin door with wiring (ebay $10-$20)
Total sum of parts via ebay prices $155-$240. You get a complete, ready-assembled cabinet for $200 OR BEST OFFER.
There are two options for this cabinet: 1. Put in a new monitor and PCB and it's ready to go. 2. Put in your MAME PC and your PC monitor and a J-pac (plus some tweaking) and it's ready to go.
Email if interested.
Thx,
J.

You may want to part it out and put it on EBay if you want that price. If a person wants to build a JAMMA cab or a MAME machine and want to go with a prefab cabinet, they aren't going to want to spend an additional 400$ of a new 25" monitor. That's 600$ right there. While the logic you are using is sound (although I think you are being overly optomistic as to what those used parts will bring in an online auction) you aren't taking in to consideration the burdon and costs the buyer has to face.
Look at it this way-- I have a 1972 El Camino in my garage, almost showroom condition. If I were to put it on the open market, I MIGHT be able to get 10,000 for it, maybe more... maybe less. HOWEVER, if I were to completely disassemble the thing and sell it for parts, I could probably get a lot more. You must consider the buyer in this instance as well. When someone is buying a part (say I am selling the front driver quarterpanel) they NEED that part. Original, non-rusted, non-bondoed quarter panels are a rare commodity. I could get a couple hundred dollars for it if I tried hard enough. But if the buyer wants the WHOLE CAR, I won't say, "Well, I could get two hundred for each quarter panel, two thousand for the original bed, two hundred for the transmission..." add all of that up and ask something outrageous for the car. The market just doesn't work that way.
I'm not trying to poop on your parade here, or dissuade anyone from buying your cab. However, this forum is chock full of cabinet bargain hunters so you may want to try selling it to people with a little less arcade cabinet marketplace experience.

I think at least $10,000 dollars give or take $10,000 dollars. I should be close....
-
I'll offer $100 if you can deliever it about 20 miles.
-
I'll take it if you've still got it! I live in Olney, MD and I've got a trailer to come pick it up.

I'm the guy from Olney. You can reach me direct at david@manoroaks.net or dchaput@cisco.com
