Title: 15KHZ Solution for medium resolution games?

Narc for example is set to 512i by Switch Res.  The screen blinks every few seconds during game play.  There a resolution that will work stable with medium resolution games on a 15KHZ display? 

Also I'm switching to a different NTSC CRT TV.  Do I need to configure VMM again?  Or will it work since it's just another CRT TV?

That is set and happens on your particular system with your particular configuration. Hence the importance of attaching a log file with this kind of questions.

As a general answer, Narc is 512 * 400 at ~55 Hz, which is not within what's considered the "medium resolution" range (24 kHz), but "high resolution" (31 kHz). Interlacing is the only way to display it on a 15-kHz CRT, though there's the possibility that ~55 Hz is not supported by your CRT (are you using a PAL-compatible CRT?). If it is, the screen should not blink when you run it.

Anyway, the first thing you need to know is what exact mode is currently picking your system for this game.

Hey Recapnation.  Thanks for chiming in and being patient with me. 

I actually resetup VMM and rebooted.  Narc booted into 480i @ 59.9 hz and ran much better!  Thanks for the info!  Reading and learning as much as I can about Groovy Mame and all the fancy features!

Quick question.   After setting up VMM again my monitor type went to custom in the ini.  I noticed Calamity selected arcade_15 for the monitor type but that with a BVM I believe.   Should I stick with custom, ntsc, or try arcade_15?

I don't have direct experience with NTSC TVs so I'm not the best to tell (how are you connecting your PC?), but generally arcade_15 will do. Otherwise, there's a generic_15 or something like that.

I turned off interlace and Narc loads in 240p.   Plays just fine now.
