I want to purchase an NEC monitor for my cabinet. But I heard only the older multisync models work. So which ones are they? I mean what model numbers? Or what should I ask to make sure it's compatible? Which NEC monitor model is best for consoles?

I think the original Multisync and Multisync II.
I know the NEC Multisync 3D can do 15khz, but it's hard to come by these days.
Sorry I don't have a definate answer, but it's at least a start!

Thank's for the reply. I was starting to think nobody knew. By the way. I just got my hands on a Mulisync 3D. It's really hard to find the original Multisync unless you know the model #. When you search for them you get alot of results since NEC still makes that model However these are the newer ones that work above 60Hz.

This one will work:

Here is a compiled list of pc monitors suitable for use as a std res arcade monitor:

Note that there are also the larger NEC 'presentation' monitors that will also have a hor sync range of 15 - 31/35kHz, so these sync right up to just about any arcade pcb that I'm familiar with. I have a 26" NEC that I can connect a jamma board to without any problems at all. My brother has a 32" NEC that is the same as mine only larger, but anything that large would just be obscene for use in a MAME cab, unless you are building a showcase style... :)
