Title: Galaxian WIP

I've had three or four different people ask me if I'm going to do this or not. I finally got some decent reference pictures (although they are of a cab that's in pretty bad shape), so I can finally get moving on this one. Those wings could make you blind!

EDIT: In the interest of allowing this thread to load as quickly as possible for those on slower connections I'll be removing all but the latest image. This image can still be viewed here:

That's a pretty complex "bug". Looks nicely vectorized.

Thanks for the encoragement guys. This is a seriously detailed piece of artwork. The finished product won't be 100% accurate. I'm working from reference pictures from two different cabs, and the artwork is slightly different on the two. The colors are not quite the same on the two of them either.

I have to admit that it's going faster than I expected it to. There's still a huge amount of detail left to do below the bug. I'm off work all next week so I'll probably finish it then.

Hey stingray!  well, it looks as though you're on your way.  jesus you're damn good at it too!  Anyways, I didn't check this post yet, but went ahead and got some more refrence pics and uploaded them, so check the galaxian post if you're looking for some more close up refrence shots, thanks!

If you have a hand scanner, you could scan it.

I usually work from photos.

I've been using photos as reference material too. No progress at all lately. I got a little sick of looking at it. I'll get going on it again before long.

I have made a little more progress than the last preview shows, but not much.

I've been thinking about sharing projects with others when I get sick of it. I'm working on Pooyan right now, and at the point I'm at, it's a bit daunting. I'm dying to start something new, but I need to get that Pooyan done.

Anybody that wants to swap projects, just let me know.

Yeah, I've had a half finished defender bezel for ages, too. That, much like the galaga bezel is a time-sucker.

I started the Galaxian Side art hopefully where Stingray left off. I had sent off a couple of PM's but havent heard back. Since this image, I have finished the city and started the big ass bug:
