Has anyone tried using one on their cab? I read somewhere this puppy can bring a monitor back to brand new condition, especially if you have color bleeds to the right.
I was wondering if anyone has tried it and how it worked.
Better yet, anyone got one in the GTA area? (Greater Toronto Area). I'd be willing to give some $$$ to get my monitor rejuvenized!

I've been using one for the past ten years. I don't know how I got along without it! They can restore/repair usually 8 out of ten picture tubes. The B & K models 467, 470, 480, and 490a are excellent older units and use the "CR-xx" series socket adapters. The 490B is the current model and sells for $1,100. The Sencore CR-7000 restorer sells for $2,100 while it's older brother the CR-70 sells on the used market for $1,000. All brands of rejuvenators use socket adapters to plug onto the back of the picture tube so you need to look in the chart supplied with your model to look up which adapter you need to test/restore your particular tube. On the B&K brand units adapter CR-23 covers most video arcade monitor tubes used in Electrohome, Nintendo Sanyo, and Wells-Gardner. Adapters are an accessory and typically cost $50 to $65 each.
Most tv repair shops charge around $50 to rejuvenate a tube. If you have a lot of games or buy/sell/repair games then this is an excellent investment. Be sure to also buy a "high voltage probe" seperately to discharge the monitor before using a rejuvenator or the rejuvenator will be damaged!

Attached is a picture of a B & K 467. This photo was 'borrowed' from an ebay auction and is being used as an example of what a typical rejuvenator (a.k.a. restorer/analyzer) looks like. The better rejuvenators have 3 meters on them to be able to see the condition of the red, green and blue 'guns' at the same time (important for color tracking). All rejuvenators will work on black & white tubes as well as color.

Even with all of the monitors and televisions that I repair, I still haven't bit the bullet and picked up a real tester/rejuvenator.
However, on three occasions, I have used a variant of the "homemade crt restorer" circuit shown here (not for the faint-at-heart):

I should note here that the tubes I tried this on had pretty significant burn-in, so if I messed them up, there was no love lost (I would have just done a tube swap). In each case, only one color gun had gone completely out. Amazingly, all three CRTs are still in use today.
My modifications was to use 120V (USA Household voltage) instead of 240 (Australian), and instead of using a step-down transformer to supply AC voltage to the heater, I utilized a 9V battery. I also didn't let the heaters glow for more than 10-20 seconds, because I didn't know how much damage the DC current was going to do to them.
Your mileage might vary, but I have had great success so far using it as a last resort solution.
