I remember a few months I stumbled on a website with cool Marvel/Capcon animated avatar. I think I linked to the site from here on some thread. Can anyone send me a link where I can get an avatar? Are there any size restrictions here on the board? Thanks.
-
Just roll your own. The limit IIRC is 64x64
-
You can get an avatar from anywhere. My problem was finding a place for it. I used to have a neat little General Electric emblem, ya know GE. Anyways, the free site I used went up and down a lot, and eventually I stopped using it. That was my problem anyway.

Either use the webspace that comes with your Internet access account (most do provide webspace, yes?) or get a freebie GeoCities page.
-
Or just be EVIL like me and use your avatar from one of your posts on visual pinball free forums. >:( >:( >:(

Yeah, but that's image leeching (http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=image+leeching), which is considered to be very poor net etiquette (I refused to say "netiquette"). In a nutshell, you're making the VP Forums pay for bandwidth to have your avatar show up here at BYOAC.
It's also a dangerous practice, because the person running the site that you're leeching from can put a rule into their .htaccess (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&safe=off&q=image+leeching+htaccess) (assuming that their running on an Apache webserver, which most are), that will pull an image switch-a-roo on people leeching.
As an example, I know a lot of people that have a rule that basically says "If an image is called up from my own website, or from a select few other websites (like BYOAC, or any other website that you want to post your own pictures in), display the picture. If an image is called up from any other website, display a 1024x768 picture of donkey porn instead".

Well here's my take on the issue I have been active in the VP forums for years in fact I can name at least 5 tables that with my help have been made better. So knowlege for an avatar sounds like a good trade to me. Also on the issue of leaching how many folks have found a server that had all the roms on them and leached them??

Just so nobody has to see a 1024x768 image of donkey porn, feel free to "leech" that image from me.

I'll be happy to host avatar images for anyone else who needs a place to store them as well. Feel free to PM me.

Although this has been discussed before, I don't remember if Saint or anyone said they didn't want people doing this.... but you could just find a graphic, and attach it to a post in a thread like this, and then just read your post, and get the URL of the attachemnt. Just remember to stick to 64x64 size. Also note, saint could "clean house" at any time and you'd loose it...but you could then just attach it again. ;D

Thanks you are a good man. I should have my own web site by Thursday. I tried using my geocities free page but no luck. Nice people like you make these forums a nice place to hangout. Thanks again for the offer.
-
Yeah, geocities and most of the other major freebie site hosting places don't allow outside image linking. My offer is open to anyone who has a custom av and has no place to host it.

What you do is change the name of the image from 'image.jpg' to 'image.txt' and use that name. For whatever reason the html img tag renders it. Or so I've read.
-
Well you learn something new every day. Nice trick! ;D

Nice if it works. I don't have the patience to test it out.
Well, what the heck:

Well, that worked with my website, now for Geocities:

Hey, it works!

I'll be darned.

Peale what brand of mouse is that?
-
It's a three button Memorex mouse. Ignore the 'ground' in the picture, as I found that it is not a ground. Kudos go to whoever can tell me where it is, though.

Is it usb or ps/2?

PS/2

OK guys, thanks for all the advice. I have a lot of free webspace (1/2 gb) so placing a 65 x 65 avatar on my site is no problem. I found a better Gandalf picture that I would like to use. I tried using Ifranview to convert it to smaller resolution, but when I plusgthe address of the picture in My Profile at byoac the picture is TOO big and is rejected.
Here is the picture ( www.garry.ca/gandalf10.gif ). Could you tell me how to convert this gif to a 65 x 65 picture (better yet, could someone convert it for me and tell me how to do it?)? Thanks guys.

PS/2
Do you have a pinout of a ps/2 connector? For my mice hacks I used the pinout I have printed out and just used my multi-meter to find the ground connection on the circut board.
