Title: Most wanted: unMame'd games
Post by: jerryjanis on March 04, 2004, 07:45:29 pm
Just curious, but are there still any games that haven't been emulated in Mame that you guys care about?  I'm not talking about Golden Tee Golf, or Street Fighter III here, only older games.  I used to keep a list of games that I was waiting anxiously for, and they were all emulated a long time ago.  I think some of the ones on my list used to include 720, Punch-Out!, Street Fighter II...  MAN, I'm talking a LOOOONG time ago.

I just looked through the list of unMame'd games at:

http://unmamed.mame.net/

and discovered one game that I would love to see one day:  Team Hat Trick.  I love regular Hat Trick, and a 4 player version would be awesome.

So for me there are only 2 games that I still want to see emulated, what about you guys?:

Marble Madness II: Marble Man
Team Hat Trick

Will Golden Tee ever be mamed or am I asking a stupid question?

Not sure on that one....

The one I'd kill for would be Tekken Tag.  I know it's not that old but it's still a classic.

Golden Tee Golf and Golden Tee Golf II have been in Mame for quite a while now...

ya but not the arcade versions of Golden Tee.  If you want the golden tee you play at the arcade you can buy the pc version its what I have on my cab and its freaking awsome.

I want Capcom vs SNK,  Marvel vs Capcom 2 and acouple other fairly new ones. But I can wait till the companies bleed the games dry and get all they can for it.

just buy a dreamcast and hack a controller if you want to play cVSsnk or MvsC or run the psx emulator and play tekken 3 (not ttt but just as good)

Apache 3 and Lock-On.

Apache 3 mostly because it's an XY yoke game I own, and since it's unemulated I can't justify MAMEing the cab while it works. A pity too as I bought the supposedly non working game for the yoke, and was rather surpised when it came up.

Lock-On is a similar game by the same company, I remember playing a sit down version quite a bit back in the day.

From what I've read, Lock-On has quite complex hardware and will be a challenge to emulate properly. Apache 3's PCB is similar and should be equally as tough to emulate.

Clutch Hitter

Unless it snuck in somewhere in one of the last few releases. Great baseball game by Sega, I have no idea why it isn't emulated.

Marble Madness 2.  If they could finially locate a board for sale and set up a contribution site specifiacally to fund its purchase, I'd donate in a heartbeat.

Yeah I'd love to see marbleman too.  Good luck. The few owners are holding onto the boards for dear life.  They spout off that it took them forever to get the games and they're not releasing them for any price, blah blah.  Dumping the roms wouldn't change the fact that you're STILL one of TWO owners of real marble man cabinets, any more than the fact that Pacman/MsPacman are dumped make your real, dedicated, mint condition Pac/MsPac cabinet worth any less.  It would only allow more people to experience a game that, although was anticipated, was never released.  They're playing the "I'm cooler than you" card. It's lame.  But it's human nature, unfortunately.

Note: I am not a mame dev.... but.....:

The hardware for golden tee is Already Emulated (itech32.c in mame).  The games aren't being released for emulation, basically (as far as I can tell) to preserve MAME.  Incredible Technologies is one of the, if not THE Most profitable arcade companies in existance today.  And they're NOT someone you want going after MAME...  Period.  They still make money off of them..  And EVEN THOUGH by next year (2005), mame's so called "5 year rule" will be up for all the GT3dgolf - Golden Tee 2k games, don't hold your breath about a rom release.

Simpsons Bowling would be cool to see too.  Problem is, there's really not that much out there left to emulate. :-/  And I don't really care about CPS3, because there's only so much I can take of "5,287,2425 hit super duper team play combo!!!"  Random button bashing is much less fun for me..   ;D

There's a clone of Rastan that I played years ago that I'd like to see emulated.

It's basically the standard game but with a darker, and much cooler, palette.

I only ever saw it in one arcade so it's probably fairly rare. It would be a shame if no one dumped it, and it was lost for all time.

#1 Buggy Boy!  I LOVED that game!

btw... Golden Tee has been emulated for about a year now.

And no... Aaron will NOT submit it...  because it uses the same board for about 4 years of the game (so swapping the harddrive will allow you to play the later games) and they are still actively being sold.  So don't expect that one to be emulated (in a form where you can see it) in the near future... Until they can add them all (all of that hardware revision that is).

As for games that I would like to see.  There are a TON of games currently emulated taht I LOVE... that don't have sound...  I wish I knew more about descrete sound.

Class of '81: Ms Pacman/Galaga

The emulation is complete on this one.  See http://www.mame.net/status.html

But I'm sure it won't show up for a while.

It has an encrypted hitachi 68000 cpu.  When I finish the z80 decryptions I'm going to look at it but I'm not sure my equipment is fast enough to run that cpu at speed.  I have 2 boards here to experiment with so it will be the first one I attempt.

Short answer:  Yes.  And with MINIMAL understading of mame drivers and a little tinkering w/ the itech32 driver.

I want that recently discovered South American 1991-ish Ms. Pac Man Twin hack that was posted on mame.net a few weeks ago... I'd do anything to see that one found and emulated.

I also want to see Tetris 2 The Absolute Grand Master (not even listed on unmamed.mame.net)

If you're just interested in 2 player simultaneous Ms Pacman you might try misfit mame.  Someone, not to mention any names,;) has done a 2 player version of ms pac and sent it to them.

I don't remember the name of the game but it was in the Arcades around 1988-89.  The game was basically a first person shooter and driver at the same time.  I'm pretty sure you as the player were a COP.  The coolest part of the game was trying to keep the car on the road as you were shooting at the other drivers out of the side window.  Anyone remember a game like that??  I would love to see that game MAMED.

I don't suppose you mean Lucky & Wild (http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?letter=L&game_id=8462)? If so, it's already in MAME.

Personally, I'd like to see the rest of the Raiden series, Progear, and Dodonpachi II: Bee Storm.

Death race.  Although I think this game was before the CPU.
You are correct, Death Race did not use a CPU, so it can't be emulated.  I've thought of writing a clone of it for my cabinet, but I don't remember the original game well enough...

I'd love to see M.A.C.H. 3, although that may need DAPHNE instead of MAME...

MACH 3?

check out
http://www.boldtower.com/mach3/

Theres a guy working on FireFox and Mach 3 emulation (in Mame) - I have not tried it but he reckons it plays pretty well, and he gets 20-30fps on his Athlon XP2000.

It seems you have to download source patch and compile yourself - not sure if he has plans to submit a driver or what. Looks promising though....

T-MEK has been MAMEd but it's currently in a non-working status.

I'd like to see Vapor TRX MAMEd.  (It'd probably be helpless slow when it get emulated though).  I played this a few times several years back and enjoyed it.  It's kind of like Pod Racer.
