Title: Intel UHD 620 integrated graphics - can it work?
Post by: ppriorfl on July 22, 2023, 12:55:54 pm
I’m trying to resurrect a 20 year old MAME cabinet that I’ve had sitting idle for over 10 years.  I put it together a LONG time ago with a custom PC with a special video card made for the wells gardner CRT.  That PC is long gone and now I have a small Lenovo M90n which has integrated Intel graphics.

I cannot get it to work (so far using normal windows and mame) as it won’t even output the low resolution required by my CRT so I can setup using a norman LCD but when I hook it to the CRT it’s out of range and won’t sync.

I’m wondering if this GroovyMame project might be the solution I’m looking for.

Any advice appreciated.  I’ll purchase whatever I need, I’d just like not to throw this whole thing away if possible.

Give a go GroovyArcade -> https://github.com/substring/os/releases/latest

5 minutes to install (you may need a LCD for the preliminary boot steps), can even try as a liceCD, free. Worth a try at least

Never got this to work despite many different adapters, many different OS and front ends and many hours.

Ended up buying a used dell optiplex with AMD card and groovy arcade fired up the first time and worked without hassle

If anyone in the future finds this, I highly recommend NOT using integrated intel graphics to try and run classic CRT monitors.
