I played this game in the 70s, or maybe the early 80s.
This is what I think I can remember.
It was a plane, I think a bomber, and I think WW2. You looked overhead of the plane at the terrain approching from the distance. You shot the oncoming targets which may have been bridges or buildings, can't remember.
The terrain was small in the distance and got larger as it approached.
Game was a set amount of time, and you just hit as many targets as poss.
Think it was b/w, and maybe even electro / mechanical, but there is definately a Mame rom for this game.
I thought it was called Night Bomber, but it's not that one, although it is fairly similar.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pA2qIGGKrWY
I found it a few yrs ago and grabbed the rom so I know it's real and a rom exists, but that old PC died a fair while back.
Hoping.
Cheers.

Here's a couple. Definitely remember playing the first one at one of those, old-timey amusement park arcades.

Thanks for the suggestions. Flotilla is awesome, and is close. And makes be think the targets were various warship, not buildings, and all side-on to veiw. Also the game as quite dark. Although I think it may have been elec mech there is a mame version, so does this mean it was definatelty not mechanical?

Found it... again. I remembered when I found it a few yrs ago it was mentioned on another forum I've not been on in ages. Had a search there and found it. And it was not ships.

That scrolling effect hurts my brain :) I never saw one of these in the wild, but it looks like they tried their best to duplicate the experience of the similar EM machines with digital displays. Definitely needs an overlay like the original machine had in order to cut down on the "swimming" effect.

Reminds me of Zaxxon...

For anyone wanting to add the in-game artwork/overlays shown in the video, you can download it from Mr. Do's site.

I like using these settings in the MAME "Video Options" menu:
- Select either "Upright Atrwork" or "Upright Artwork (cropped)"
-- Both look like the screencap with these settings
- Everything "Enabled" except CPanels "Disabled"
- View "Cropped"

Thank you. I will grab that artwork. Definately looks much better.
And I'll look up Zaxxon.
