I have a strange experience with both of my ultimarc 360 controllers I have purchased. For reference I have replaced the standard springs with the higher tension ones, and extension shafts. They are plugged in via the USB. I have them set to 8-way in the Windows Ultimap software.
When sitting idle in any MAME game AND in my Launchbox/BigBox FE, the controllers will randomly push "up". This is happening on BOTH controllers, but one more frequently than the other.
I don't know if I have to recalibrate them? But in the Ultimap software and Windows gamepad stuff, nothing looks to be drifting. Is there any way for me to monitor what they are doing? Has anyone experienced this before and is there a good way to diagnose the problem that I haven't thought of.
Thanks for your help on this.

I've had this same problem. I think it's somewhat common with U360s.
First thing to check is your maps. Is the entire 3x3 center block set to Center (+ Symbols)? If not, edit them thusly (you can always change them back again later). You're effectively widening the dead zone in the center of the stick's range to compensate for the slop introduced by analog nature of the stick's sensors. Do the same for 4-way. I have 2-way horizontal and vertical maps too, and for those I set the whole center set of blocks to Center (+). Lastly, you can try creating a custom restrictor profile and applying it to your sticks, but tread lightly here and backup your ini file beforehand, because changes here can really make your sticks behave strangely. A custom restrictor profile lets you mess with the scaling factor (how sensitive the sticks are): https://www.ultimarc.com/change-log-for-ultramap/
