Title: Unidentified Cabinet
Post by: RedboX on March 02, 2004, 03:36:06 pm
Can anyone identify this cabinet?

it seems to have 4 joysticks, so I'm thinking it's been a Crazy Climber 2 at some point in it's life.  But was it orignaly?

Good question.  It certainly looks like a Taito cab.  Paige?

No cab picture of Crazy Climber 2 on KLOV. If it does turn out to be CC2 you should definitely send them this picture to add to their archives.

CC2 (as far as I know) was only a conversion game.

Give me a few minutes and I can ID that cabinet. Every "Taito Classic" title has slightly different artwork.

It was Crazy Balloon.

Thanks paigeoliver

I spent ages looking at all the Taito games on KOLV, but I must of overlooked Crazy Ballon http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?letter=C&game_id=7424.

I'm picking this cabinet up at the weekend, to hopefully mame it, but I was just checking that it was not some ultra-rare cabinet that I should preserve.. I have to say having found out that it was Crazy Ballon I feel a lot better about it as I hated that game with a passion in my youth.

Yes, there is little to no demand for any game with Balloon in the title (Crazy Balloon, Pioneer Balloon, Balloon Bomber, etc).

Although it wouldn't hurt to try and find a Crazy Balloon marquee for it to help preserve its flava!

As far as I know the only in-demand Taito cabinet is Lock N Chase. Seems someone single handedly created a demand for this game a few years back by searching REALLY hard for one. Which made everyone else look too, (it is rare), and now a lot of people have it on their want list. The rest of the Taito games are either dirt common, have zero demand, have battery and coin processort board problems (thus are seldom repaired), or have already been converted.

The CP looks like a stock Karate Champ with the two buttons between and the "euro" shaped handles.

I think your right about Karate Champ, heres another picture of the cabinet from a different angle, I've been trying to make out the marquee, but I think Karate Champ could be it.

The little graph left of the cartoon fighters in the middle of the marquee is the Karate Champ move graph.  Looks like a generic conversion marquee.  Seems like there were Karate Master marquees for KCs.  The red and white jump suits on the cartoon guys also lend creedence.

And therefore, after entirely too much thought, I conclude it's a home/amateur/custom KC conversion.
