Hi all! I'm back after 15 years. yikes!
Im looking to redo my MAME Cabinet's control panel. I currently have a4-8 way switchable joystick (SANWA).
I want a different type than can switch from the top... I see only so far the ultimarc MagStik Plus, but that won't fit my very constrained panel. Are there any other options that will top switch?
If not, has anyone hacked the SANWA to allow for switching from top?
Thanks!

Have you considered automating the process with Ultimarc ServoStiks?

Thanks! I'll look. It seems even larger though!
I also need a small compact 2.25inch trackball and a place that will fabricate my wooden panel to specs lol. Oh good times!

if you got room for a button, you can now switch sanwa joysicks with just a press of one.

Enjoy!!

I'll be damned. Wow. But I think this adds to much height to the assembly and it won't fit my panel. Ugh!

On Retropie you can install the script for automated change, based on game selection. So no need for installation of the button at all required.

Thanks Stephan! I just looked and it seems I may have enough room at the bottom of the joystick to install the hardware.
Do you know how much more height it adds to the assembly under the panel?
Also, I don't know the model of my sanwa. Do you know if this one is compatible?

I'm using the GRS option and I'm using windows. I've got mine setup to switch automatically, without the button by making a call to the controller via batch before the 4 way games and before the 8 way games. It's a quality product, if you're using a Sanwa.

I like it! Can you do me a huge favor? Can you measure the total distance from underside of the TOP PLATE of the controller, all the way to the absolute
Bottom of the servo? I think I may just have enough room for this!

I just put an 8-way octagonal restrictor plate in my sanwas.
