Hi everybody;
I don't know if this topic has been covered yet, if so please let me know.
I have a cabinet with both AdvanceMame and Mame (both 0.61); my video board is a ATI 3d charger and my controls are only the standard ones (no I-PAC or similar).
I'd love to use AdvanceMame for its capability of generating a wealth of resolutions but I don't know how to remap/reconfigure crucial keys like "TAB" and "enter". Besides, ArcadeOS has some strange colour problems with some resolutions (completely mixed up, in a negative-like fashion) but if I change the resolution and save it for the game then things are working. But how can I change it if "TAB" and "enter" do not exist?
If I use mame, I launch it with ArcadeOS and I use the latter's shift keys feature so no problem in remapping but (aargh!) mame displays Pacman in 640x480 interlaced!
To summarize:
1. Does anybody know how to configure AdvanceMame to remap, say, 1+2 to esc as in ArcadeOS?
2. Does anybody know why some resolutions have this strange problem with colors?
3. Alternatives? Force plain mame not to use interlace, but how? Get a I-PAC or similar :-\ but where, apart from Ultimarc? Upgrade card bios?
Thanks for your help!

in any MAME program including older version of Advmame, if the "TAB" no longer works, delete the default.cfg in the cfg folder. If you are running a newer Advmame, this is no longer applied. You have to look at your Advmame.rc file for any related to "TAB" and delete that whole line, somehitng along this.
input_map[ui_configure] keyboard[0,WHATEVER]
the WHATEVER is when you accidentally re-configure it to a KEY. So just delete that whole line and its back to default.

Er... I think I was misunderstood, but maybe your advice can help... My problem is: can I remap [TAB] or [ENTER] to something like CTRL+1 (i.e. pl1 start + pl1 button 1) in advancemame?
Thanks anyway!

sure, go to the MENU (TAB) and select which one you wan to change.
For Example. If you want P1START and P2Start to be ESC
HIT TAB
SELECT GENERAL MENU
SELECT UI CANCEL
press Enter
and quickly push 1 2
and thats it.

Ok, thank you, I'll give it a try... And get a keyboard splitter, so that I can hide a real keyboard in the cabinet :D
