hello all, im sure this has been adressed a million times, but i couldnt find a search on it.
how thick should my control panel be?
i have happ P360's but nowhere on the little instruction card they come with does it mention the thickness of the control panel your mounting it to.
theres a .500 bushing spacer provided with the stick so im ASSUMING that thats the thickness, but i would like very much to have that confirmed or denied before i cut or drill anything potentially wasting a good piece of stock.
thanks all

3/4" is pretty much the standard. That said, a lot of people route out a little bit for the joysticks so that the sticks poke up a little higher.

thanks for the quick heads up!
i got a piece of .125" thick polished aluminum diamond plate,
looks like im going to need a .625" backing plate under it.
awesome :D ;D

WHOA WHOA WHOA. I misinterpreted you there.
3/4" is the standard for a WOOD panel, and even then it's not a "rule" or anything. If you have a metal panel, then...uh, I think it can just be whatever thickness you want, as long as it's strong enough to endure a beating.

Yeah, a metal control panel can be much thinner. Mine's 2mm thick or thereabout.

1/8 inch metal is still too thin, i think it would give a "cheap" feeling to it if i didnt back it up.ill proboly have the plate anodized or chrome/gold plated and
i think ill get some plexi and overlay the diamond plate with that to beef it up.
keep the plates finish from getting scrathed and dull.
ok so, 3/4" is the golden rule, but essentially anything under that , but not too thin is good.
works for me. ;D
again thanks

1/8 metal is plenty thick provided it has bends in it to stiffen it up. Check just about any real arcade game that has a metal CP, you'll find most are thinner.
