That should be excellent fun.
Wish I could afford the time (and money?) to go.

I am neck deep in work and homefront development until Q2 2023 at my current pace.

October 15th is coming up fast.

It is not too late to make the difficult decision to have fun:

     playing arcade games

     playing console game

     eating great food

     drinking beer or other beverages

checking out my infamous dungeon shop

Spouses and children are welcome. There will be women and children there.

A friend was recovering from surgery. Arroyo and bperkins01 helped me to repair some of his arcade stuff. That took up a whole day. We fixed a few G08 monitors. And we played some pinball.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20221017/d2c4708043f2ecafac88625a16a718e0.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20221017/76908e6b6ad91a0b71c4912d04bc4074.jpg)

The Captain's Chair is finally 99.5 percent done. We had to cut some Plexi panels and figure out how to mount them. We had to apply the artwork. There was some wiring that needed to be sorted out. All done.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20221017/88487e8db24759276a64b753fc778958.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20221017/24744ed5d3d29900242f87cbe2c13145.jpg)

My friends supplied all of the food and most of the beer and other drinks. We had a birthday cake because it was my mom's birthday. Hey MikeA,
What’s that pinball to the right of Monster Bash?  I don’t think I’ve seen that one before.

The Pinside listing (https://pinside.com/pinball/machine/big-bang-bar) mentions 122 units produced and links to the IPDB listing for the 1996 original (https://www.ipdb.org/machine.cgi?id=4001) production run. (14 units)  The Pinside listing appears to also include some from the 2007 remake (https://www.ipdb.org/machine.cgi?id=5244) run. (191 units)  Not sure what the pricing difference is between those versions.   :dunno

Regarding the 2007 remake:
Quote
Reportedly, the following differences exist in this remake as compared to the 1996 game:
• The electroluminescent lights on the plastic ramp use 12v on this remake while on the original Capcom game they work on 24v.
• The tube dancer is 13% smaller than the 1996 game - Gene Cunningham didn't have access to the original mold.
• All remakes came with numbered plaques for the cardholder (whether or not they may be mounted there).
• Reportedly, there is no manufacturer sticker on the back of the cabinet as there was on the original Capcom cabinet.

There has been talk about another remake for several years, but I don't know the current status.

Heh, I misread Tony’s post.  What are the odds of having two rare games.

Yeah, BBB got remade.  It was about $4,500 and Gene Cunningham wanted half up front.  Then he asked for the other half a good couple years before they came out.  Story was he lost a ton of money on them.

For years leading up to it, there were tons of ---That which is odiferous and causeth plants to grow--- stories.  Gene bought all the surplus capcom pinball parts but just couldn’t figure out a way to make tube dancers, so it was all off.  Then he had tube dancers but couldn’t get the ramps.  Then he didn’t have enough boards.  The boards story was probably true.

I very heavily considered buying one, got copies of the preorder paperwork, etc but then I moved to St. Louis and met a couple of jokers he had hired to drive to Illinois occasionally and assemble them.  They wore their official polos to the Super Auctions and wanted people to kiss their asses.  Anyway, their relationship to it didn’t last.

I’ve played it a couple of times.  One guy used to bring it to the Chicago Expo and it was $1/game.  It’s…. Okay.  There’s one in south Texas still in the box, but the owner decided his newly found hateful politics were more important than friends he’s had for 20 years so no idea if he ever opened it.

Only business I did with Genes company was buying a World Cup Soccer 94 ball.  Had to call and beg and then mail them a check.  I was so unimpressed with it I kept my original inside the bottom of the cabinet.  Comparing them now, which I did earlier this week, and they look about the same condition.

I give him a hell of a lot of credit for getting BBB remade, though.  It would be much easier now in the era of boutique pinball.  He passed away a few years ago.  His home listing was interesting - I kinda liked the disco ball over the indoor pool.

The craziest post I ever saw on rec.games.pinball was from the 90s where a guy posted he had found a Big Bang Bar and Gottlieb Brooks and Dunn on test location.  Less than 20 produced back then between those two games…
