I use groovymame on a CRT on an old Emachines T3422. it works great but cuts off a significant portion of the screen both left and right. The TV's service menu only allows vertical adjustment. is there anything I can do other than using mames sliders?

Tv is a ct27d10b I believe (the sticker fell off long ago)

You need to edit custom crt_range on mame.ini, for that a very good tool is arcadeOSD
@Calamity very soon release a GM version with sliders for adjust geometry, this help you a lot.
-
how do I adjust? is there a guide somewhere?
-
For horizontal resize, you need modify h front porch, hsync and h back porch on crt_range0 from mame.ini
crt_range0 15625-16200, 49.50-65.00, 2.000, 4.700, 8.000, 0.064, 0.192, 1.024, 0, 0, 192, 288, 448, 576
If you are in Windows, with crt emudriver you have a tool arcadeOSD that help you know these values.

After 5ish years I managed to actually get it with supermodes, instead of cutting of the screen it just shifted now, no problem my tv menu does have horizontal position. now it only cuts off a tiny bit on each side, fraction of a letter comperable to actual arcade cabs ive seen.

Try GM 0.246 with new geometry options.
