Title: Touchscreen problems :(
Post by: Lilwolf on July 31, 2022, 09:22:14 am
I setup a megatouch / touchmaster mame cab for a friend of mine years ago.  Well, a lightning strike killed it...  Time to upgrade it.

I bought a touch screen on ebay (https://www.ebay.com/itm/394148807350?_trkparms=amclksrc%3DITM%26aid%3D777008%26algo%3DPERSONAL.TOPIC%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20200708143445%26meid%3D8e253bd3ffed4f8bbb9b04e80b3fcea4%26pid%3D101251%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D1%26itm%3D394148807350%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2380057%26algv%3DPersonalizedTopicsV2WithMetaOrganicPRecall%26brand%3DUnbranded&_trksid=p2380057.c101251.m47269&_trkparms=pageci%3A6c96f8cc-0ebb-11ed-a07f-02d76e2c1666%7Cparentrq%3A46b0c4f61820a45b09b94386ffffdfc4%7Ciid%3A1)

Works well in windows.  But when I'm playing in mame, the input is always in the wrong place.  Seems like its either because of the screen resolution changes (I turned switchres off and stretch but no difference there)... or that it's being seen as a mouse instead of a ... lightgun?.. and the touch input is relative and not positional.

I'm not sure if I can get the old harddrive that I already had setup, able to be read.  And I'm pretty sure I solved this years ago.  But I just can't see any setting in the manual for setting this.

Any idea?
Thanks!

Never mind - figured it out!
the trouble was that the touchscreen was being loaded as a mouse instead of lightgun (lightgun was set to 1, mouse to 0 in the ini file.  And the -verify said that the mouse was being forced to being used).

I turned the mouseprovider to none and lightgunprovider to rawinput and boom!  Everything is working!

Just posted incase others have the same problem later.
