Title: Wiring - monitor and power supply
Post by: rdharles on February 03, 2022, 04:12:58 pm
Hi,
Recently purchased a 60-1 cabinet custom built.  It contains a flat screen monitor, 60-1 board, jamma harness, computer power supply.
The power is wired so that when I flip the power switch in the back, everything turns on/off.  I suppose that's pretty common but I don't like it.
I want the power to the power supply on constantly and the switch to turn off only the monitor.

My question is, how do I rewire the switch so only the monitor turns off when I flip the switch in the back?

This is how the switch is currently wired: image 1 & 2

...AND HERE IS MY QUESTION, will this rewiring work to keep constant power to the power supply and the switch will turn on/off the monitor? (image 5)

Thanks for any help/advice you can give!!

Not quite.  You got ground right, but you've got the power supply and monitor labels switched.

To do what you describe, you want the power supply on the A and C tabs of the switch (before the switch = always on) and you want the monitor on the B and D tabs of the switch. (after the switch = switch turns it on and off)

OK, that makes sense now (that it's opposite), my "lamp" is only on when I turn the cabinet on.
Really appreciate you taking the time to post!
Cheers!
