Title: Crosshatch squares should be square (equal width and height)?
Post by: jimj on January 29, 2022, 06:13:15 pm
This probably falls under the "duh" category, but I just want to be certain before I go through the effort to calibrate my monitor's geometry that I'm doing it correctly.

When using a crosshatch test pattern I assume the squares should be true squares (equal width and height, for example 1cm wide by 1cm tall) and not rectangles with a 4:3 aspect ratio (for example 4cm wide by 3cm tall)?

I plan on using in-game test mode cross hatch test screens to calibrate my monitor (unless someone has a better or easier way they want to share).

Yes. No CRT is perfect though, and the older they get, the more you may have to learn to live with. They generally make up for it in other way :)

Thanks for confirming.  Yes, I look at any imperfections as adding to the to authentic 1980s arcade realism where things usually weren't perfect.  :)
