I'm curious if there are many other forms of how people routinely hold spinner controls when playing games like Arkanoid, Tron, etc where it's about precision and not a full 360+ rotation.
Here's how I find myself holding on to it, which pretty much requires my arm to be elevated the entire time I'm playing.

Is this how most of you prefer, or are there other techniques I should consider?

I rest my wrist on the panel but you might not have that luxury with the buttons below the spinner. I'm no expert though - just started playing spinner games for the first time in the last few months...

You really should have some space below the spinner to rest your wrist if you want precision. A free-moving spinner already makes those types of games more difficult than using the geared spinners and potentiometers many of them used originally. Without a way to lock the position of your entire hand, it'll be very difficult to lock the position of what you are trying to control.

Yeah, Luckily I don't have the buttons right in front either but I probably use a combination of both techniques. Just finished playing California Speed using spinner as wheel. Arm definitely needs to be rested with that one. Cars can get a bit squirrelly.

I use a reverse grip...
Ohhh.
Sorry. You are talking about spinners.
Oops.

I use a reverse grip...
:laugh2: I'll have to give that try.... on the spinner I mean.

@RandyT, @MartyKong, @MikeA, @javeryh, thanks for chiming in guys. Not sure how I didn't catch this a long time ago when I was first looking at my CP layout, but this definitely needs to be adjusted. :( Good thing I haven't started the CP top yet on my build. I didn't think I would get enough range of motion without moving my arm originally. Been too long since I played spinner games.
So in general, to play with your wrist rested, I'm finding I have to use my thumb and first or middle finger to grip, and extending one of those fingers straight while the other curls in defines the maximum range for each direction while still keeping my wrist on the ground. Am I getting that right? Not sure exactly how big a range that is but I would estimate I get close to 180 degrees before needing to move my wrist. That enough for more precise games?

If so that definitely means I'm either wresting on buttons, or I have to relocate the spinner with the current layout.
