I am watching this video and notice that Frogger has an 8-way and also I remember another video that states the Frogger uses an 8-way (forgot where).
https://youtu.be/nWevidSFyjY?t=316
I always know that Frogger is a 4-way control.
Is Frogger really an 8-way ?

You need to jump diagonal on the later levels, like when Frogger is in space and has to jump from space lillypad to the warp point to avoid the space wasps.
(If Frogger uses an 8 way joystick, that's news to me)

Frogger is a 4-way game.

- You can't move diagonally, only up/down and left/right.
- If you play the game using an 8-way stick and try to hit a diagonal, it will take whichever switch closes first.
Looks like the thing that got you questioning this is the control panel shown at 5:16 in the video.
- It is not an original Konami Frogger CP.
- The bezel and marquee seen a few seconds earlier do not appear to be from a Frogger cab either.

The operator probably put a Frogger PCB in another cab.

This sounds very familiar to the video I'm referring.
I am curious so I look up a video of the game and found this

but did not see a level that refers to space jumping to lillypads.
I know Frogger 2 have something similar (I used play it in C64) but not in the first one.
Are you pulling my leg leapinlew ? if so, you got me lol.

Yeah, just playin, but the idea of a frog in space isn't much different than a frog that can't swim, am I right?!

This IS actually pretty ridiculous (and very funny leapinlew!) isn't it?
Roadkill, sure... but dying if you fall off a log?!

Roadkill, sure... but dying if you fall off a log?!
They say it's as easy as falling off a log.
Space Frogger... now I'm imagining a hybrid between Frogger and Time Pilot, where you are fighting UFOs in space but with a flying frog. Don't even wanna know what you are shooting at them.

Regurgitated intergalactic space flies?!
Someone smarter than me needs to make this game.

When I lived in tropical Queensland as a kid, we used to be innundated with frogs at the back door because there was a glass panel inset that would attract the insects, and therefore the green tree frogs.
A constant issue when opening/closing the door was that frogs would move into the door jamb while the door was open, then you would accidentally and sickeningly make frog jam in the door jamb. Crunch, squish, oh no not again :'(
Anyway, back on topic, you had to be brave to pick up a frog as they tend to piss on you when they feel stressed. That was about the only offensive thing about them. Apart from the squishing and the pissing they were quite cute little guys.

Hey I live in Queensland now! Canetoads are the worry though, not tree frogs

A fellow banana-bender!
I spent much of my misspent teenage Queenslander life training ninja quarterstaff skills on the despicable cane toad.
My best mates all lived 1-2km away and I'd often find myself walking home alone on dark evenings. So I fashioned myself a 6ft long wooden staff from 3/4 inch dowel (safety, protection), wrapped paper tape strips onto it for visibility (cars), and went to war on the countless toads. I became quite good at finding them, nowhere to hide.
No, it didn't make me some kind of sicko, these imported monsters are the only animals I'd ever do that to. It was for "public service" rather than cruelty. Mostly I'd be thinking about my neighbour's dog that got blinded by toads. Pressing on the back/front shoulder of the toads, where the poison glands are, can cause it to squirt out. Thus the quarterstaff - if it gets in your eyes you are stuffed.

Space Frogger? Surely you mean Battletoads...
