While I could use a normal 30mm button in my bartop project to add credits, I'd like something more interesting. My ideal would be where the button had the picture of a quarter on it, but the rectangular coin return style ones almost as appealing.
So does anyone have any suggestions on what I might use and where to get them inexpensively? (Note: I'm in Ontario, Canada.)

You can print your own inserts like these (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,134455.msg1389192.html#msg1389192) or these (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,146283.msg1522438.html#msg1522438) or these (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,142007.msg1473854.html#msg1473854) on Avery Inkjet (8665 or 18665) or Laser (15665) labels.

If you go with rectangular buttons, Tighe's KLOV thread here (https://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=139731) has a wide variety to choose from or you can make your own.

P.S. Here are the source images I used in case you want to make different-sized inserts.

Thanks @PL1. Is there a specific brand or model of buttons which I should be looking for (or avoid) for this purpose?
-
I have used ones close to this before. I like them a lot.

Here, I'll quote myself from 9 years ago:
dab of super glue.

The Happ/IL concave translucent buttons (https://paradisearcadeshop.com/collections/buttons/products/il-psl-lcv-convex-button-translucent-white) have a much smaller viewing area so you might not want to use them.
There's a variety of commonly-available convex translucent buttons, some with LEDs.

I used Malenko's trick on my machine and everyone likes it and makes it obvious what the button does. It's fun too because you at least touch a real quarter and it reminds me of the old days when you'd all put coins up for who's next.

my credit is a secret key combos.
If player stumbles upon it, they hit the jackpot :)
-
I use a coin door with coins.
There's something about having a set number of coins to play that makes earning a life much more enjoyable than free play.
-
@Malenko that's a cool idea. What brand / model of buttons did you use? (All the buttons I have are the concave style, dunno how well those would work.)
@Thenasty The problem I find with button combos is trying to come up with one which doesn't require a dedicated "shift" button and doesn't use a combo which might get triggered accidentally during gameplay.
@Marsupial That's certainly an option for a full-sized cabinet, but I'm building a small barcade.

that picture is of concave buttons.

the player that don't know the key secret combo, they need to insert coin to play.
Now here is the secret, just in case you come over and play.
I use the LEFT SIDE Buttons (pinball) + Start 1 for Coin 1, and for Coin 2, RIGHT SIDE Buttons (pinball) + Start 2.
There is no way that would be accidentally triggered not even playing pinball type games.
