Hi,
I'm gutting my Prime Racing - terrible interface and controls. Already put in a new computer and loaded mame and other racers. Next is to change out the wheel and pedals.
However, I would like to put in a 4.1 sound system. I was thinking a subwoofer under the seat, and putting in 2 speakers in the headrest, besides the 2 speakers in the cabinet itself. Problem is, I know nothing about what parts to get to accomplish this. Anyone have recommendations for a good soundcard or amplifier for the computer that I can do a 4.1 setup? What speakers, especially what subwoofer. I'm not looking for a full subwoofer. More like a speaker I can screw into the underside of the seat box.
Thanks!

If your pc has onboard sound then it can likely already output 4.1 signal for front rear and sub. Otherwise just about any sound card can do that and work for this purpose. For the subwoofer you want a "free air" subwoofer. This kind of driver can perform well on its own without a proper enclosure. Thank you so much! :)

I put a creative labs inspire p7800 and x-finity USB soundblaster inside my Sega racecab. Very good sound. I use the cab speakers and the sub, not the p7800 speakers. You could find similar models used, very cheap.

Sorry my subwoofer link was broken and wasn't including the filter for "Free Air". I fixed it above.
