I started this project on Monday. Want a nice cabinet to display all my old consoles and scart modded tv, have most my stuff on scart now and love it. So because it’s a cabinet with a crt and a marquee, also some practice leading up to my next couple cabs, can I share here? Will I be cursed forever now?
Going to get a Nintendo marquee and some side graphics, put red leds in the pockets, mount my scart switch in the little centre pullout. Got the red done, will work on the black sides etc tomorrow.

Looks great, I need one.

Sure it belongs here.
It is a project.
I have been debating whether or not I want to build a cabinet for my console stuff.
I look forward to seeing how yours comes out.

Nice, what kind of wood are you using?

MDF, worst thing on earth sometimes. My garage is full of the dust, probably my lungs too haha.
Finally got first coat of black on, thicker than I’d like.. taping took hours :o trying this tip out, I masked over the red then took a brush and painted red along the edge to make a seal kinda. The black should cover the red no problem, then hopefully when I peal the tape I have beautiful lines! If not I’m doing touch ups. I’ll let you all know if this works for me.
(Posting pictures from a phone is junk)

The taping went ok.. using the blue tape on not fully cured paint was not good, the old fashioned manila masking tape seemed to work better, painting the edges may have helped some. In the end I had to just touch up all the red. Perhaps the evil mdf dust all in my paint was the problem? Anyway almost done, might get some pics with the consoles in the basement later today. Need to order leds, buy glass, marquee is on the way, side graphics I haven’t figured out.

Getting it all set up. Still needs wiring and some touch up paint for sure. First pic is during daylight hours, nicer lighting. Second pic the consoles are actually all connected and the switch drawer installed. Too bad the switch panel kinda takes away from it.
Feedback welcome

This should be a standard item in every (gamer) home ;D
...sure beats my thrown together "thing" that just "evolved" in the lounge room :lol
Cheers

That’s funny because I have a Nintendo marquee on order and my Wife wants me to strip out anything non Nintendo :o why so uninclusive?

Thats even funnier since you have Sonic on the screen.
Any reason to have the Wii and the GC? Or does your Wii not have GC ports?
Be a great place for a Sega Saturn and/or Dreamcast

That would betray my Nintendo heritage.
Would love to collect some more sega stuff, but I would prefer to replace the PS2 with a TG16. Only have to justify spending more cash to get into another system and more games... my GC collection is only one game, maybe I fill that out first?
Is this display dorky enough for now?

Finally got my glass and put the led light in the marquee. Turned out alright. Last thing is to get the motivation to put the red led strips in above the consoles and a take a decent picture ;)
