Title: Nominations for best threads EVER
Post by: paigeoliver on February 25, 2004, 07:33:26 am
Ok, here are my two nominations for best threads EVER.

Half of a Tempest cab installed in a van.

http://www.arcadecontrols.org/yabbse/index.php?board=10;action=display;threadid=6752

"I built my cab out of MDF, painted it gloss black an it looks like crap".

I CANNOT seem to find that one, if someone else can, please post a link.  ;D

I nominate any of the flame threads by cyberpunk

or the Snaaaake bedspread thread (http://www.arcadecontrols.org/yabbse/index.php?board=1;action=display;threadid=6158)  (EDIT added url)

Most of the "good" threads end up in number9/post hell

Yeah snaaaaak making fun of others is like a man made of glass sitting in a glass house on a glass chair yelling out his window rude comments towards a man made out of concrete carrying a load of bricks.  Not a smart idea.

Whew, that insult was tiring.  Time to go back to sleep so you can leave me where I lie.  ;)

Yeah all the great threads are in post hell.  And by 'great' I mean entertaining to watch the mud fly.  The cyberpunk ones were pretty good for awhile, and whiskeroid threads were just plain weird  ???

There's been so many, but of course my malt and hops-soaked brain can't remember anything past last week.....so unless we get a sneak peek at post hell....*hint hint*  ;)

and *ssshhh* don't wake the HC....

ooo--post hell, i had heard of rumours of such a place where insults (and fur) fly willy, nilly, is this true?  is there a mystical place where some mild mannered byoac'ers have unleashed the dogs of war?

LOL hulkster ... 27.  I was just trying to tone it down (i.e. not say for the love of god/gawd)

Plus it gives the assist to whoever wants to give the proverbial comeback, " who is pete and why should we love him? "

Tell your pops, "jimmeny crickets!" (I don't have any other "old" person verbage handy)

I read the bedspread thread and didn't think it was all that funny.  Surprised snake didn't go off on that in the thread (good for him).

Not to wake a sleeping demon, but I'd have to nominate any thread in which Howard acts like a know it all, is obviously wrong, and then fights to the bitter end about how he is still right in some sense or another.  ;)  I don't know where we'd be without Howard though.

My favorites were the few Cyberpunk threads, surely unavailable now, in which he was hiring a lawyer to have www.arcadecontrols.com shut down.  I got kicked off the forums at his mameworld site.  It was so sad.

But even better is when he tried to come back to these message boards  a week later to announce contests and stuff that his website was doing and he pretended that everybody here wasn't seething with hatred, or at least irritation, toward him.

He still pops in now and then, god knows why?  Man, that guy had thin skin.  Setting him off was a riot.

member index "C" (http://www.arcadecontrols.org/yabbse/index.php?action=mlletter;letter=c) he still posts in the jukebox forum as he is the propieter of VJB or somthing.

regardless the threads only live on in post hell #9 and depending on the thread I may have backed it up statically somewhere on one of my drives... there was one called "hypocracy in mame" that really burned up the webwaves...

I'm thinking some of it got snipped, but I'm not sure (you are right it wasn't *that* funny...)  search for "which OS should I use" or "windows98 vs WindowsXP" or "linux vs dos" and I'm sure you'll find the type of "classic" HC thread you speak of =P  *nods to HC*  Anything M$ vs open source or OS discussions brought out the best/worst in HC at least with respects to the discussion we are having now, that is...

blah...

i remember one called 'incohrent sentanses' or something - there was some funny stuff on there too - just some humorous, innocuous poking at the general attitude of typing laziness.   RIP thread.

Laugh all you want, but I'd venture to guess that bedspread is really comfortable.

Sure is.

I dont see anything funny at all other then nervous trying to f*ck with me without any reason. I recall him doing something else too I forgot.

IF any of you find "that" funny,well...seek serious medical attention asap ;)
I mean seriouslly what the hell  ???

Actually, that bedspread looks like it is from a cheap motel if you ask me.  :'(

And no, the thread wasn't very amusing. Unless you like to laugh at other peoples misfortunes.  :o
