Title: Marquee Lighting
Post by: EssexMame on April 01, 2021, 03:15:26 pm
What lighting colour works best for a marquee - warm white or cool white?

Looking at a LED stick-on strip light (1M, can be cut to any length in 5cm increments). In that case, what sort of lumens brightness is required? Is 60 LEDs giving 1020 lumens per metre ok or too bright/not bright enough?

I recently put LED strips in my cab to backlight my marquee and bezel.
Just buy an LED strip from your local DIY store and then put it in and see how bright it is, then cut the strip to size.
If it's not bright enough you can always do a double loop of lights.
Bit of a warning: get the cheap strips with a rocker switch that come on automatically when power is applied, not the remote control ones, as some of them only only come on when your press the power button on the remote.
I prefer warm lights, but the cool ones look really good for things like Tron or spacey marquess where you want a neon, minimalist sort of vibe.

Just a check - you mean the Lumens for your marquee length totals 800, or is it rated 800 lumens per metre?

Per metre.
You can put the strip pretty close to the marquee before you see the indivudal dots, so you can if needed adjust the distance to tweak the brightness.
