I'm going to the auction this saturday and think it would be cool to meet others from the area at the auction-(I already have all the machines I need so I don't care if you guys drive the prices up ;D) anyways, the address is 717 kipling ave--So far me, my brother, and mmpeanutbutter are in, any others?
-
I'm going this weekend too.. I'll be wearing a Red Roots Canadian Hockey jacket.

I'll probably make an appearance, just to see what's there.
what time does the viewing and bidding begin again??
-
viewing starts at 9:30 and auction begins at 11:30 (or so--they aren't very punctual)
-
Hmmm, I'd like to show up. I need a few parts. Their hours don't usually jive with my schedule so it's nice that their parts department is open on Auction Saturdays. My buddy needs some microswitches so I may drag him along too.
-
Any chance of setting up a "meeting area" at a certain time--say like 10:30 or so--picking out people by color of jacket is going to be fun to say the least ;D
-
ehehehe..
lets start off..
Name: Leon
Build: 6' 2" white male. Dark brown hair. Late 20's.
Wearing: blue jeans with a black/yellow ski jacket with the words "IBM" stiched in the left arm.
;D
We can always decide to meet outside next to the sign at 10:30. Bring a sign that says BYOAC .. ;D
-
Hi Leon!
My name is Brad and I'm an Arcade-a-holic.
A BYOAC sign? Darn! All I have is a NERD sign!
-
we haven't discussed who's bringing the beer yet--what would a canadian function be without beer?
just a bunch of arcade geeks standing around freezing their gonads off... ;D
-
I'm In!!
Have we decided where we're meeting, or how we know who's who?
-
Alright you guys, here's the deal--i'll write BYOAC on a slice of cardboard and hang on my truck (red mazda) (either at the front or the back depending on where i can park)and we can meet there--I should get there around 10:30 -11:00--I'm stu--6', blonde hair green and white jacket.--come introduce yourself ;D
-
Haha.. I'll bring my camera to take a picture of that.
Me: Wearing: Red & Black jacket

Well, that was fun!
I met up with a few of the board members. (Hi guys!)
Prices seemed pretty reasonable overall. There were tons of pins this time around!
The first 5 cabs went dirt cheap. $25, $25 (midway cocktail), $50 (1942), $25 (cabaret), $25 (cabaret) There was a nice Austin Powers pinaball machine there that my buddy was drooling over ($1750) which is apparently pretty cheap. (I overheard an operator saying he'd pay that.)
A huge pedestal Big Game Hunter went for $1000 bucks and right beside a pedestal baseball game went for $600ish dollars. The monitors must have been in the 32" range.
On my way home I saw a truck driving down the QEW loaded with the Big Game Hunter, a 25" hockey game and a 25" football game...... The truck had New York plates. He got a pedestal game for $1000 Cdn! That's arounnd $600 US isn't it? I'm not positive, but that seems like a pretty good price to me.
Overall it was a fun time and it was good to meet a few of the BYOACers.
p.s. Isn't it fun to play a $5000 LoTR pin for free? Wheeeeeee
Any purchases out there?
-
Where were the other BYOAC's members at this auction? Didnt you see the awesome BYOAC sign in the back??
It was my first auction and I learned an important lesson today...
For the older cabs.. Bid first and bid @ $25 for them.. If I did that... I probably would have gotten 3 or 4 working cabs for under $100. 1943 $50, Operation Wolf $25 and Alien 3 with 2 guns $75. Mortal Kombat 3 went for $125....
I was looking to get a pinball machine, but I didnt have $1000 bucks to spend... Maybe I will come April ;D
It was nice meeting everyone today.

I have to add:
Menace made up a sign so we could recognise each other...... Bums, begging for food have nicer signs than this one!! Crude, but it WAS effective. Menace promised a fully lighted BYOAC marquee for next time. I'm expecting full classic artwork, 3' x 5' should do the trick. Chase lights would be a nice addition.
-
Menace was there!?
I didn't see him.. I did meet up with another board member there. I left after the MK3 bidding.. the prices were too high.. good weather, big turnout.
The only thing I really wanted was that cherry cab. Excellent body, excellent 27" monitor.. very little work. But 550$ is a lot of $$$!!!! There's gotta be a place that sells them for cheaper!
As far as the cheap cabs.. they went for so little because most had burns on the monitor. :(
I wonder how much those 2 short pins went for (Star wars episode 1 and the other one a few isles down from it)
-
Yes I must admit my signage was a little on the ghetto side but it managed to snag a few guys ;D I'm going to see if I can get that scrolling light marquee made up for the next one :D--I have 2 cabs and a star wars yoke to finish so we'll see. On the plus side I did manage to have some guy throw $.25 at me--mumbled something about "damn homeless people everwhere"..or something...
Nice meeting you guys and we'll see you at the next one and next time I'm bidding! I should be beaten for driving my truck home empty after those prices ;)
-
Menace.. are you making an Star Wars Yoke?? Or did you happen to find one out in the wild??
As I need to get a hold of one.

Did you happen to catch how much the star wars and rocky & bullwinkle pins went for?
-
star wars was 1375 (it needed some major TLC too) and I didn't catch rocky and bullwinkle--ask GGKoul --he was in the fray while the bidding was on.
-
Did anyone end up getting a price list?
