Is Marble Madness the only game that supports 2 trackballs? If so, is it really that fun to justify spending the extra money on a second trackball?

Combat School

Rampart... (up to 3 if i recall....)

Here are links to some old threads that should list most if not all dual trackball games:

Track and Field
-
I didn't realize track and field was with a trackball. I've only played it on my C64 when I was a kid and we used joysticks. Until we broke them all, then my dad made a 2x4 with three buttons on it that we could slap. Huh.. never realized my dad hacked a joystick to a CP until you just brought that up. ;D

I think that there are two versions (in the arcades), trackball version and a button version. I think that the button version was released first, and it's the only one I have seen in arcades.

I believe the trackball version was actually an aftermarket refit kit for the game. Trackball versions are not as sought after because they are considered to be too easy.

I'm a little confused. Trackballs and light guns work in pretty much the same fassion when it comes to mame right? Mame just thinks its a mouse if I'm not mistaken.
So I'm reading this post http://www.arcadecontrols.org/yabbse/index.php?board=1;action=display;threadid=16472 (http://www.arcadecontrols.org/yabbse/index.php?board=1;action=display;threadid=16472) and I notice that there is talking about how you can use 2 act-labs tv light guns with mame (not analog mame) in winxp on a tv connected to a computer.
Wouldn't that mean that two trackballs should work under mame on an xp machine?
If that's true, I may just have to rethink my cp designs...

Track and Field did NOT come out with a trackball CP...I was there in the 80's and played that game a lot! It only had 3 buttons!
Note: i used to use the "pencil cheat" and I hated when they put thoe guards around the buttons so you couldn't cheat! I mean, WOW! they actually made special guards for that game to stop that cheat!? Amazing!

Another one.
-
Klov mentions that the original track and field cabs had run left run right, but some were converted to trackball to remove the run buttons
-
yeah, the originals were just buttons..and they had problems with the cheats....I wonder if they changed to trackballs to prevent this? who knew?
I swear this was the ONLY game i ever seen where they had anti-cheat prevention! I find it hilarious!
Oh, and I have never seen a track and field with trackballs... infact the last time I played it was probably like 1985/6 in the arcade! (I'm old!)
-
btw... a pencil and you can out race a trackball.
turn it into a level (one finger under it... that finger between the two buttons...) Then it presses one side (because you put down pressure on one side... the push on the other..
so in the end... every time you press one button, you get two...

C.A.B.A.L also uses two trackballs

Doesn't EVERY trackball game that supports cocktail mode support 2 trackballs?
If not, then they REALLY should.
That would add dozens of them.
