Title: Why do some versions of Daytona USA have a credit button?
Post by: Rockstead on January 28, 2021, 11:17:55 am
I’ve been looking at whatever Daytona USA art is out there and I’m seeing many versions of the dashboard art that has a credit button.

While all the versions I ever played never had a credit button as credits always came from inserting money in the machine.

Just wondering if anyone knows why, at first I thought this was a custom image for someone that rigged an insert coin button, but it’s not clear at this point.

Belgium and France taxed game cabinet based on the number of coin acceptor. 1 coin acceptor = 1 taxe, 2 coin acceptors = 2 taxes, etc.
Here why all BE and FR twins have Credit buttons.

Interesting to know that, but how does the credit button help them avoid the taxes? Would they remove the coin acceptor?

Twin have only one coin validator for left and the right side. Less taxes for the operator. Once coin insert the user need to push the credit button to burn the coin.

Another example would be the coin mechs used in germany - back in the day we had 1DM, 2DM and 5DM coins (that later was worth 6 credits).

So if you wanted to play with a friend, you'd just insert one of the larger coins (pref. 5DM), end enjoy a two player session together.
