I'm making progress with my gun CP for my mame cab while on Xmas break from work. It's all getting a bit exciting!
The gun itself is made from cutting down my son's old M16 BB gun. A powerful solenoid and red LEDs in the nozzle running from a timer circuit gives it a nice kick and sound and light effects, and a vibrating motor in the grip adds to this.
Today I finalised the vertical axis and tomorrow I'll be working on the horizontal. Both axis are via 5k pots.
:banghead: I'm not even sure what games are covered by an analogue gun :banghead: I just know I need one!!
But a thought has just struck me.... how many buttons will I need? The only 'button' currently is the trigger. Forget service buttons.... they're on the main machine already.
Cheers for any advise.

The search term that you're looking for is "positional gun".
- There are 16 positional gun games listed in the wiki. Some of the analog stick games might also be suitable.

How many buttons do you need? :dunno
- Fire those games up in MAME and check the "Input (this Game)" menu.

I had no idea they were referred to as positional gun games. Thanks for the link.

I would look into the Gunblade games on the Sega Model 2 emulator, those are good fun. Terminator 2 is always a classic too.

I'm not too savvy when it comes to different emulators to be honest. My last build 7 yrs ago did have a Jaguar and SNES on it along with Mame, for which I had gamepads connected, but it was only Mame that really got used.
This build has got hot-swap CPs (hated the previous Frankenpanel), including the Gun CP (which is almost complete).
It's taken tons of effort to make this CP so I would like as many shooting action options as possible so I will look up your suggested emulator, thank you.
BTW, T2 is already on my Mame list. Op Wolf is my most wanted!!
