Title: Replacement joystick - advice?
Post by: Mr. Do on February 23, 2004, 02:42:49 am
My previous attempt at multiple panels, although the perfect idea when I thought of it, just doesn't fit in with my current living conditions.  It's too much stuff, (plus, if you look at my previous work, my wood skills are nonexistent).  I need to settle with one Control Panel.

I've got a blank Control Panel coming from www.gamecab.com that will basically look like this when I'm done:

I'm thinking about making the right stick a Happs Mechanical Rotary, and fitting it with Oscar 4-way restrictor plates.

Viable solution??  (Basically, I'm asking, how do they feel?)

Also, I just checked Oscar's site, and it's showing restrictor plates out of stock indefinetely :(  Anybody have one they would like to sell?

Bump for a second chance.

Basically, I'm asking anybody out there who has both:

1)  How does the Happs Mechanical Rotary feel compare to the LS-30?  I know it's not going to be exactly the same.  I'm just asking for a couple honest opinions.

2)  How does a 4-way restrictor feel, and does anybody know where I could get one set, since Oscar's site says out of stock?

Are most rotary games 4-ways?  I have heard that the restrictor does a decent job, but have no experience myself.

Why not get yourself a 4/8 way from Ultimarc or Groovygamegear to play the 4 way games on the 1 player side and get the rotary for the 2 player?  Unless of course your favorite game in the world is a 4 way rotary game.... then you might want to find a restrictor.

I think the Happs Mechanical rotary has a longer throw, and it has 12 points of rotation versus 8 on the LS-30, someone please correct me if/when I am wrong.   ;)

Either way you go, good luck!

quick note...

most rotary games are MUCH MORE fun in 2players.

And I don't have one so I can't tell you how good they are.  I would be more worried about how good are they at normal games...  Since you will use them for normal 8way games 95% of the time..

SNK rotaries SUCK for normal games..
