Title: Coin-triggered start?
Post by: archagon on February 22, 2004, 06:51:05 pm
I was just wondering, is there a program out there that can start non-emulated games with coin triggers? It would be a shame to run games like House of the Dead and have no use for the coin slots...

Now that I think about it, I guess what I'm looking for is a program that locks the controls until a coin or two is/are inserted, after which a macro automatically starts the game.

Also, if such a program exists, is it possible to make it flash the insert coins text?

About the program question: Unfortunately, I don't think that such a program exists.  Just stick to using coins for the real arcade games in MAME.

About the macro:  You could use a custom MAMEWAH list and have the start game key bound to a coin.

MAMEWAH is a mame front end which allows you to select a game and play it.

Go here for more info:

http://mamewah.mameworld.net/ (http://mamewah.mameworld.net/)

There are many good front ends available and almost all of them could do what I said above.  Check them all out and decide which one you like the best.

You can play house of the dead with the nebula model 2 emulator.  You can get playable framerates on a new system.
