Title: Old SlikStik NEW PC - Keystrokes to not match
Post by: Moose13 on November 25, 2020, 11:46:20 pm
I am in the process of upgrading my entire arcade setup. I have my old control panel, SlikStick Classic, back from 2007, which still has the old PS2 plugs. I'm using a PS2-USB converter to a NEW PC running Windows 10. (Slikstik is no longer in business but I believe mameroom/northocast took over their business)

Here's the problem. The control panel is recognized when plugged into the USB, but all the control mapping is not right. For instance the P1 joystick strokes are registered as follows:
Up = "1" instead of "up arrow"
Left = "W" instead of left
Right = S instead of right
Down is "up" instead of down

Not one keystroke matches what it is supposed to, for any button on the panel.

I tried downloading multiple versions of Ultimarc IPAC software and tried resetting the defaults (the original slikstik config files) but nothing seems to work. When I try to program the device, it times out (I tried all the settings on the timing) and then it says can't find device.

I've tried pretty much everything and can't get anything to work.

Anyone have this problem?

My next idea is to order a more modern ipac controller and swapping it out?

OK here's an update.

I emailed Andy from Ultimarc and he responded super quick (3AM eastern time).
The Ps2 to USB converter will not work properly. Time for a new board.

I assume IPAC is still the standard goto after all these years. Would someone suggest something otherwise?
