Hey, what type of configurations/settings do you use with this monitor. I am trying to get mine to look as good as possible. Right now i have hardware stretch on, and run at 800x600 screen res. I wonder if it's possible to get games to "fill the screen" with out stretch on?
Also, what refresh rate do you recommend and should I set a refresh rate in MAME.ini, or leave it at "auto" ?
Cheers! :D
My setup:
-WinXP Pro
-800x600
-60Khz
-TNT2 Video card
-MAME .79
-Hardware Stretch on
-Resolution set to 800x600

uh, i know some of you have this monitor!
I got mine for $75 last year along with about 20 others!
C'mon, gimmie some tips! :'(

Um, try going down to 640x480, most games scale to that resolution a lot cleaner than they do to 800x600.

my video card's lowest setting is 800x600, otherwise i would have tried it. ::)
i have a TNT2 made by Erazor.

No it isn't.
Dig through your XP display settings and find a button labeled "list all modes". You will be able to select 640x480 60hz there. All VGA cards have to be able to do that resolution, it is the DEFAULT resolution for most operating systems.
The REAL issue is that XP attempts to switch to 800x600 at the end of setup (and hide 640x480) in some attempts to get AOLers up to a usable resolution.

Yes, thankfully you can turn the incessant "You are running your computer resolution at a low setting. Please CLICK HERE to turn off your mind and let XP do your thinking for you." reminder box that pops up with every reboot.
XP-1 step forward, 2 steps back.

If it weren't for XP thinking for me, i wouldn't think at all :(

hey, thanks for the tips.. so, I set it to 640x480 and don;t see any difference then 800x600 with hardware stretch.
oh well.

Well, that could also be because that is your windows resolution, and your Mame games might be running at another resolution entirely. Since changing your desktop resolution has no effect on your Mame games resolution.
When I first read the post I had assumed you meant you were running your games at 800x600.
-
no, i set my windows and MAME to run at the exact same resolution.

YEP.
Anyone else?
