I thought that too, if you had never read the book it was fine, if you had then it lacked something.  I think it was summed up with You killed my mums sister,  made it feel a bit impersonal.  You killed my aunt would have made more sense. Also movie lost the shock value of the book by not killing off any of the main players.  I'll definitely give the 2nd book a read when its available anyway. But lets be honest, he's done it for the movie rights money :) Mind you it worked for Crichton with The Lost world (Shame that they didn't use the book as the basis of the screenplay though, they just stole a few elements :))

I was disappointed in the movie.  They missed out the best bits....

The joust trial.
The true way he earned the extra life credit.
How *Wade* got out from IOI.

I was like "pfffffffffffff" after watching it... but I did watch it again sometime later and enjoyed it more the 2nd time after I got over myself. LOL

Lets hope the 2nd book is as good as the 1st.  As long as it sticks to the 80s and doesn't move to the 90s, I will have some hope.  Although the 80s storyline has theoretically dried up, so who knows.
