I have my extended control panel made and laminated black it looks awesome. i ordered my buttons and im thinking about layout now. I have it planned out perfect except im not sure if my 4way setup will work, here is a crappy example of how i want it
8=8way
4=4way
0=button

the top buttons are start/coin, the rest are obvious. now i plan on using the 4 way with my left hand and using the right side buttons. but they will be mapped to player 2. so would i have to manually map the buttons to player 1 in all 4 way games, or is there an easier way around this?

Wouldn't it be a ton easier to just buy a joystick that could switch between 4 and 8 way? Both Ultimarc and GroovyGameGear are selling them.
But if you really have to have a 4 way and want to use the 2 player buttons, you are right on track, you would just need to map them within the game, unless someone has a clever way to create an all-encompassing .ini file....

yeah, the switchable 4/8 way joy would make your life much easier...
If you don't want to map the buttons, then you'll need to add a couple to the right of your 4way and just wire them up with your other p1 buttons.
At this point, the CP is getting out of control...

I just got the Ultimarc T-Stick Plus's with the ball top replacements. They look REALLY good and the switching from 4 to 8 way is really quite cool. You just pull on the top and twist. I'd recommend going this route.

well i already ordered my 8 ways, and even if i didnt i think this is the best route for me. for fighters i want non ball tops and for classics i want the ball tops, so instead of switching tops having a 3rd joy really isnt a problem.
