I'm looking to use an Oscar Controls Vortex spinner with a MiSTer FPGA setup but it only works with 2-phase rotary encoders.
Is the Oscar Controls Vortex spinner considered 2-phase? It has +5V, GND, "S1" and "S2 pins but I'm not sure what that means.
Does anybody know the resolution of the Vortex spinner as well?

I dont know the resolution. Its a 2-phase and should work fine. It uses methodology common to arcade spinners.
Its a shame.Oscar closed down years ago. He made great stuff. I still have a few, including a vortex..

Thanks very much for the info.
I know the MiSTer project also has a 'Mr. Spinner' encoder (uses an Atmega32u4/Arduino) but you need to know the PPR/resolution to make it work. If anybody else knows it please let me know :)

The Vortex was basically a clone of the tempest spinner, which had 72 counts per revolution.
