Title: DEFENDER 'reverse'
Post by: smartbomb2084 on August 19, 2020, 11:58:03 am
Does anyone have an original Red Label ROM Defender cabinet where the 'reverse' button works 100% of the time?

THANKS in advance.

Is yours flaky?

Not trying to be obnoxious (honestly) but why would it not work all the time unless the switch was failing?

Glitchiness myabe?

REVERSE works about 98% during play and seemingly 100% of the time during Switch Test Mode.

I have changed the Interface Board Ribbon Cable and its Capacitor .  I reflowed the solder and cleaned the header pin connections and also removed and punched down the wires into the IDC Connector with the proper tool.

I have seen this issue on two original cabinets and boardsets and on a third boardset that is in a rescued black painted ROBOTRON Cabinet I was using to play DEFENDER with a STARGATE Control Panel.

I can't remember if back in 1981 that this REVERSE issue was present or not which is why I am looking for other Original Cabinet owners for input either way...

That is interesting. I will have to pay attention next time I play defender on my cab.

Its coded that way on purpose just to make the game even more of a pain in the ass.

That sounds plausible.
Defender is an ---uvula---.
