Title: Best VMMaker settings for HD Sony Trinitron
Post by: gamepimp on July 24, 2020, 04:18:40 pm
Hi all. I've got a PC that I'm trying to interface with a Sony Trinitron KV-36XBR450 which is a HD CRT that can handle resolutions up to 1080i. The computer I'm using has an ASUS P5Q motherboard with Intel Q9550 2.83GHz processor. It's got 8GB of ram and is running Win 7 Pro (clean install). I've got a Radeon R5 240 video card with CRT Emudriver installed. When I first attempted to get the desktop to display on the TV I selected the monitor preset labeled as "NTSC TV - 60Hz/525". However, that appears to be meant for a 15kHz TV and I believe the desktop is being displayed in 480i. I was hoping to find a preset that would be more appropriate for a 31kHz TV so that I can get a 480p resolution. If there isn't a good preset for this would there be a "custom" setting I can use to accomplish this? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Why don't you just try one of the 31-kHz presets? Be warned, though, that, as recently discussed here, HD CRT TV sets are usually quite awful due to an unavoidable picture post-processing. Your 640 x 480 picture will likely be scaled.
