Title: Tech: rowe cd 100 e sound is whisper quiet
Post by: 04barb on July 14, 2020, 03:37:58 pm
Hi,

On my rowe cd 100 e the sound is whisper quiet even after cranking up the volume pot. I tested the volume pit and I will get 0k to 5k as I turn it. I also unplugged the mute connector but still have the same issue. Any help appreciated.

New developments, I noticed that I had no 28vdc led light on the power supply. I removed the connector and the 28vdv light came back on. So I figured something was dragging down my 28vdc. I unplugged the title rack keyboard interface p1 connector and now I have sound so something on the board is bad. I'm able to input songs with p1 removed but it will not let me flip the pages. I did some testing and found two questionable components. Q1 and q2 are the same component but test differently under diode setting so I suspect one is bad. Also found resistor way over spec .see pictures.

it's not uncommon for the board on the power supply to have cracked solder joints. there is a lot of vibration in the cabinet.

couple screws and the transformer lifts right out. flip it over and pull the board out and resolder everything.

I resoldered all the pins on the power supply and title rack interface board. Like I said the 28v light on the power supply goes out as soon as I plug  in the title rack interface board  so it has to be a faulty component on the title rack interface board.
