Title: Various Colors of Green Pushbuttons
Post by: mahuti on July 07, 2020, 10:42:37 am
I'm working on a themed cabinet, and I need some additional colors of green pushbuttons... think camo. I have green  push buttons from different manufacturers and distributors and they're all pretty identical in color.

Does anyone have any knowledge of any place with alternate green color pushbuttons for sale than the standard one... or know of any variances with one manufacturer versus another? Earthtone buttons would be cool too.

I'm not sure what you want to design, but pro tip:  Buttons are supposed to stand out so players can find them.  It's the control panel overlay that you want to fade into the background.  What types of buttons?  'Merican buttons, be they leaf or micro switch come in a few shades of green although I'm not sure if all are still in production.

Looking for concave. This general type:  https://na.suzohapp.com/products/pushbuttons/58-9100-L

Thank you for the UI advice. I have swappable panels, so it's ok if this particular one lacks in the realm of the visual context-cues part of usability. It's more for looks.

If you're looking for a variety of shades, you may want to consider using Rit Dye on white buttons.
- There are a variety of dye colors available.
- If you dip the buttons for a shorter time, you can get a lighter shade.

Listen to Scott.  He seems to be a very smart guy.     If not I would recommend that you go to Paradise Arcade Shop.  Out of all the online shops I have perused they seem to have the largest selection of push buttons.  A good range of color also.

The RIT dye is an interesting idea. I'd thought about dye but rejected it because I forgot they make white buttons  ;D

As for Paradise Arcade Shop... they have some wacky colors, and some translucents too. I may have to go there just to pick up some samples for future reference if nothing else.

I needed to buy an A-pac today, and ended up buying some other interesting stuff from T-molding.com while I was picking that up from them. They only had 2 different greens, but i picked up some gray shades, a chrome one, and some purple, pink, orange, along with some purple t-molding.

I'm working on a Masters of the Universe themed cabinet. I'm trying to decide between a dark castle grayskull color scheme or the gaudy bright colors of the toys. I may end up ditching the green idea, and style it closer to the colors of something like the AttackTrack. Lots of visuals to mine. Since I'm building this out of a Satan's Hollow machine (converted by a former owner to Terra Cresta and painted black), the original red of the cabinet might be something nice to bring back and reuse.

Anyway, thanks for the advice. I'm sure I'll post a project update some day.
