Title: Wireless USB hub for controllers?
Post by: TheManuel on June 21, 2020, 02:05:37 pm
I recently built a 1P control panel for a friend, with american style arcade controllers and one those so-called zero-delay USB encoders.  I was wondering if there might be a reliable and reasonably priced wireless USB solution for connecting the encoder and making the control panel wireless.

Has anybody had experience with something like this?

You can get wireless solutions.

But they pretty much all introduce lag.

Maybe so, but if it is a lag level comparable with console wireless controllers, I am perfectly willing to leave with that.  If much worse, that might be a bridge too far.

I would only be ok with a wireless solution if it was for my 4-yesr old . Me, no lag. I won't even do lcd. #SMBLCDHELL

I'm nowhere that hard core anti-lag activism.  Thanks for the input but I'll try to steer this thread back to the original question, before it turns into a lengthy debate about lag.

If anybody is aware of a wireless solution that would offer similar performance to a wireless console gamepad, I would be interested to know.

Thanks.  That seems to be in the right direction.

The other option is using something like this depending on how many inputs you use:

Ultimarc offers this bluetooth board: https://www.ultimarc.com/control-interfaces/u-hid-en/bluehid/ (https://www.ultimarc.com/control-interfaces/u-hid-en/bluehid/)

I have an Nvidia Shield I set up for console emulation.  I'd like to use this or something like it to make a wireless set of Atari paddles.
