Title: VGA Adaptor work with Groovymame?
Post by: goku80 on June 03, 2020, 03:50:54 pm
I currently have a Radeon HD 5450 and want to upgrade to a Radeon R7 430 to play atomiswave/naomi games as well.  So, I ordered a Radeon R7 430 with VGA port on Amazon, but they sent me the one without VGA port.

If I buy a display port to VGA adapter (like one below on amazon), will my set up with CRT Emudriver & CRT Tools 2.0 beta 15 and groovymame still work and will it degrade in picture quality in any way?  This will be a deciding factor if I should return it or not and get one with actual VGA port on the card itself.

Ordered this one with VGA port:

Amazon sent me this without VGA port:

Display Port to VGA adapter:

I think it's gone quiet in here because we don't know? Most us prefer to use analog output, as being simpler and more direct.

Try google for info on the Rankie converter - which is pretty useless advice, i realise.

I returned the card. I just ordered another one from eBay with VGA output display.  Hopefully, they send the correct one  :D

Hopefully the R7 430 will be good enough for Atomiswave and Naomi games.
I have an i7 4970K CPU and an R9 380X and I still seem to get slowdown.  I've heard other people on the forum say that spec gets perfect speed but I keep encountering moments of bad slowdown.
Let me know how you get on.  I'm wandering if I have bottlenecks elsewhere.  I'm running off an SSD so it could only be the RAM (8BG) or the mtherboard.
