What does everyone recommend for strong hinges and latches for a 4 player control panel?
I'd like the hinges to ideally hold in place at 90 degrees (it won't have room to open much more then that because of an edge overhang design), and when closed I'm looking for a black low profile latch of some kind to keep it firmly holding down without any play to it. Ideally not too pricey either :) I'm worried I may need to revise my CP design a bit based on the latch. Currently I don't think I have a good way to attach it. I'm also OK with a latch solution that requires unscrewing with tools to open (presumably with a threaded inserts).
What do you recommend?

Mine was only a 2 player but I like these cabinet hinges. They hide the hardware and you can release them to remove the top.

Yeah they make those in a few styles... I have them on my machine as well. They lock when fully open which makes it nice.

I used two of these hinges https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07R6QF6GQ?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title (https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07R6QF6GQ?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title)
And a pair of these catches

The hinges work nice with 3/4 inch material. They'll allow the panel to open even if there's some overhang of the top panel. They also have a little button that allows you to detach the top panel without unscrewing anything. The hinges seem strong enough but the caches aren't terribly strong. I don't really see it opening by accident but if you really want it closed up tight you might want to use 3 or 4 of the catches.
I can't seem to get my picture to embed in the post so here's a link to a picture of the cp

Interesting idea with the catch. I'm mainly just wanting to avoid the top of the CP from moving at all even with 4 rough players on it. Generally I shouldn't need to open it up so that's why I'm even ok with it requiring a screw or bolt to keep it in place. One idea in my head is routing out a tiny section on the back for a basic 90 degree corner brace to sit. This way it's flush with the back and connected to the back underside of the panel. A couple screws would securely hold it in place. That way my kids won't be tempted and this could potentially sit out in a public place and not get messed with. But when service time comes, 2 or 4 screws out and I'm in.

Do you think 2 hinges are sufficient with all that weight or should I go 3 or 4?

Simple piano hinge or regular hinge at one end and these (https://groovygamegear.com/webstore/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=70&products_id=204) at the other end inside CP or out, depending on your build.
