Title: GroovyMAME, crt_emudriver, and OBS
Post by: Sereosh on May 27, 2020, 07:32:09 am
Hi,

I've been trying to record/stream my arcade gaming with OBS to no luck so far, hence my post here to see if people found a way to do it!

I'm running everything on my main PC on Windows 10 which has a GTX 1070 and an HD 5450 just for Groovymame. Here's what I tried so far:
On OBS, display capture won't work because it's using the wrong GPU I assume. I can get window capture to see MAME but only if it is windowed, game capture only shows a black screen.
Have groovymame output on two displays, one on my CRT and one on a LCD connected to my GTX 1070, this works somehow but I think it's messing with the picture on my CRT, it looks filtered?

Right now the only reliable way for me to record anything is to point a webcam at my television, so it's not very ideal. ;D

You do realize you'll be recording some 320x240 "window" and it will look pretty ugly if upscaled ? ;)

I have recorded 320x240 windows from baseline MAME before, upscaled with point filter on OBS, and it did not look pretty ugly.

Edit: Out of curiosity, I tried Xsplit and Xsplit Gamecaster, both are able to detect the MAME window properly (tinkering the aspect ratio is needed because of super resolutions). I'm able to record with it, but a lot of settings are hidden behind a subscription...  ???
Here's a screenshot taken from a recording.
