Title: Installing UltraStik 360 Oval Top
Post by: yanivw on May 05, 2020, 03:04:58 pm
Hi all,

I'm now planning a control panel for a new build I start soon.
my question is regarding bottom installation of the UltraStik 360 on a 3/4" plywood.
What is the recommended diameter for the center hole of the joystick so the handle can move freely?
I didn't see any comment regarding this on the product page (https://www.ultimarc.com/arcade-controls/joysticks/ultrastik-360/ (https://www.ultimarc.com/arcade-controls/joysticks/ultrastik-360/))

I'll appreciate any help from members who has experience with this product.

Thanks in advance,

YW

Hi,
if, in the future, you will install the front/top restrictor, the diameter of the hole in the cabinet must be 33mm.

I have unrestricted 360s on my 3/4" panel; Andy advised 1" holes were adequate.  I made 1 1/8" holes because that was the size Forstner bit I already had for the buttons.  It has given more than enough clearance, and plenty small enough to be covered up by all dust washers I've tried.

I was testing different hole sizes yesterday for ServoStiks and found the smallest I could get away with was 18mm so I suppose anything up from that is fine. The black plastic hole-cover-thing is massive so, if you're using that, then you'd get away with a much larger hole. :-)
